Job Description

Our client, a busy municipal office located in Keene, has an immediate need for an Administrative/Accounting Assistant.  This is a full time position that will have you working 8am-4:30pm Mon-Fri (37.5 hr/week) and offers $17-$24.50/hour depending on experience.  This is a great opportunity that has long term employment potential for the right candidate.

Your duties as the Administrative/Accounting Assistant:

  • Provide administrative support to several departments/senior staff
  • Greet visitors, answer phones and screen/direct callers appropriately
  • Gather information and data to prepare/edit reports
  • Receive and disseminate messages, mail, reports etc.
  • Manage calendars and make travel arrangements
  • Perform duties for Board meeting preparation, attend monthly meetings (one evening per month), take minutes, manage deadlines and action items
  • Prepare/edit/proofread correspondence including letters, reports, bulletins, and memoranda
  • Budget development - administration and tracking
  • Develop process improvements for efficient office operations
  • Respond to outside requests for information
  • Maintain complex/confidential files
  • Track fund balances/manage disbursements
  • Serve as back up to Human Resources
  • Handle requisitions, prepare invoices and process billing
  • Resolve billing issues/questions
  • Participate in training programs
  • Other tasks as assigned

Your skills/qualifications for the Administrative/Accounting Assistant position:

  • 3+ recent and relevant experience
  • High school diploma, degree preferred
  • Excellent professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Customer service and public relations skills
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles to perform financial record keeping
  • Solid computer (MS Office/Google Suite) strong MS Excel skills
  • Strong math skills
  • General understanding of accounting principals
  • Experience with Accounting software (MuniSmart)
  • Fast and accurate data entry skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workflow
  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Education/municipality administrative/accounting experience a plus
  • Able to attend one evening meeting per month
