Job Description

Our client located just outside of Brattleboro, VT is looking for a skilled Controller for their growing team!

Your qualifications for the Controller position are as follows:
 
  • 10+ years of leadership accounting and finance experience
  • Minimum of a BA; CPA and/or MBA preferred
  • Solid experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and accounting for investments
  • Grants management experience 
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience in Great Plains and Jenzabar or similar accounting software
  • Commitment to recruiting, mentoring, training, and retaining a diverse team
  • Keen analytic, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, board, or other outside partners, and ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers
  • Experience in higher education and/or non-profit organizations a plus
Benefits you will receive as the Controller:
 
  • $85K-$110K/year, depending on experience
  • Direct-hire opportunity with a comprehensive benefits package
  • Flexible full-time schedule with potential for hybrid for the right candidate
For the Controller position your duties will include:
 
  • Oversee day-to-day finance operations including AP, AR, payroll, grants management and restricted funding, financial reporting, cash management, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Supervise, motivate, train, and develop members of accounting team
  • Oversee all accounts, general ledgers, and financial reporting systems, ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulations
  • Prepare and present financial reporting; consistently analyze financial data and investment analysis and forecasting
  • Coordinate audits, assist with tax preparation, and manage permits and licenses
  • Assist with payroll, student billing, or finance inquiries
  • Foster a positive, results-driven work environment
  • Other tasks as assigned
